I had the wonderful experience to work with Evgeniy at embassy today. The service was fast and very helpful. Thanks again, respect and grateful for the all workers there.
I went on the 8th Business day and my Visa was ready!
Great, quick and satisfying experience! After reading every single review here I was a bit scare and worried about how long it will take to do my documentation, and how "nice or mean" the people at the consulate would be. I was honesty prepared for the worst as many people said this was pretty bad.
I went back the following week with ALL my documents, and different person was on the window, younger person, as soon as he saw my passport and I told him I went to request a Visa, he knew I spoke Spanish, so he kept speaking Spanish VERY WELL to me! Really! I did not expect that either. He asked me a few questions about why was I going to Ukraine, checked my documents, told me to take a seat, waited 3 minutes and he came back telling me my documents were approved and come back in 10 business day to pick up my Visa.
I went to request a Visa to enter Ukraine. Before going to the consulate, I made sure I went in they website and read through ALL the requirements needed for it. Also made sure to have clear where to made the payments and how(All consulates payments are done in money orders!) Some questions I needed about the Visa was not clear or not stated in the website, I called and no one replied, so I emailed them and got answers within 18hrs.
I also want to add that although I think is not common for them nowadays to see people requesting a VISA to go to Ukraine (really people was looking at me very surprised when I said that) I did notice that they were extremely friendly with the national Ukrainians requesting the Passport. I saw so many laughs and jokes between them. I did not fully understand what they were talking about, but I surely know that IF you go prepare with all the documents you need, and you are polite the Consulate of Ukraine in Chicago really does an Excellent job to keep their citizens and non citizens request at the best standards they can.
They Ukrainian people waiting on the room those 3 days were very polite and nice, the people on window were very nice to me.
I went there 3 times. I got there by 9.10am and there was already about 10 people there. But line move smoothly since most people goes to update their Ukrainian Passport. There are chairs and tables, so you don't have to do a line per se, just ask who is the last one, sit and wait, all those three times, it took for me about 3 to 4 minutes wait, (Not Bad! I wait longer at the grocery store!) The man at the window checked my documents and politely let me know I had a document missing a to come back when I had it (That was VERY NICE of him since he could have take every thing go through documents denied my visa and stated it was because a missing document! Then I would have to pay and do every thing all over again).
Horrible experience. So unprofessional service people. Took the Green Card and never give it back, when we asked for it, they said they never requested it.
I was pleasantly surprised with attention and great service I received at Ukrainian Embassy in Chicago. I can say that people whose work there are very dedicated to their job. It was also great to hear native language! Thank you!
So I do recommend this Consulate!
Very old fashioned building and tight space. Looks like a basement that needs remodeling. No restroom, reminds me of Ukraine during the Soviet regime. People are not friendly, not helpful, disappointed. No one answers the phone.
