I have been to several consulates for different countries and so far my best experience is with this consulate. The processing time is quick (I applied my visa in late January and got the passport in about 7 days). The best part is, the staff there were really friendly. You can feel that they really want to help with your application process there; everyone is kind. They even gave me advice on my trip to Spain. Really good experience there!
Professional, friendly and helpful staff at this consulate. There were no issues with my appointment. I visited for a schengen visa, and they were very accommodating with the many hotel reservations I had due to my long planned stay. It wasn't a stressful experience at all. They were happy to answer my questions and the processing was really quick.
Their website isn't the best when it comes to instructions, so should you find yourself asking what types of documents you need to take, research on other sites.
Having to drive 6 hours straight from Ohio to get there, and getting lost several times, I finally made it to the office about 4-5min after my appointment time of 1:40pm. I was greeted by absolutely no one, and only told by another man waiting what was going on. They were an hour and a half behind schedule for Visa processing and were just catching up. After waiting about 10 minutes my turn came.
One of the most disorganized government facilities I have ever visited. They did not even know the correct visa application fees. I had scheduled an appointment for 11:20 and had to wait for an hour and a half to get called. When I gave them a money order for $72 (the correct amount as per instruction online) , I was told that the amount was incorrect and was asked to get a new money order for $64 ( which I managed to get from the CVS below the consulate asap). I tried to tell the person there that the EU website had updated the visa fee and the new fee was $72, but they did not listen. One week after my submission, I received a call from them, telling me that " I had owed them $8 since I had only submitted a $64 money order". I told them about how I had tried to give them $72 in the first place and they refused to take it, and the lady on the call just laughed it off. I was out of town so I had to mail in a $8 money order. I ended up spending more money on sipping than the actual visa cost. I would expect an international consulate to be more organized and cognizant about peoples time.
Sandra was incredibly helpful during a very difficult timeline, and we could not be happier with how she well worked with us. What a blessing to have such dedicated people at the Embassy... Such a great introduction to Spain!
I was greeted by the rudest and nastiest government employee I have ever met to date. A young brunette Spanish male who looks to be in his twenties. Upon sitting he sighed and actually frowned at me. Great start. Next, he threw my visa application at the window after I hadn't filled it out completely. He didn't even let me explain that I had questions and he shoved it through the window slot, muttered a comment in Spanish to his other coworkers and walked away. I was too tired and hungry to be mad, in that moment, so I said sorry and hurried to fill in what I think was the right information. He then sat back down, texted a few things on his cell phone and continued demanding (not asking) for my other documents. He more than once asked if my documents were "authentic" or "originals", which made me feel like he was accusing me of forgery. Finally, after giving me one last sarcastic tone he said "That's all, it'll take 4 weeks." I don't know if he had a bad day, or was racist or whatever, but his attitude and handling of my personal information was completely unprofessional and made me feel awful. I would stay away from this Consulate if possible or ask for a different interviewer if I had to do it over again.
Unprofessionalism at its highest.
