Last year, I had to renew my passport and had all of my things together to get it done, after traveling 8 hrs to the city of Chicago. The staff were very helpful and professional to get my papers process in matter of days as personal matters waited for me in Peru. Thank you so much for all your help. It is a blessing to see my country again.
In the past, I've had fair dealings and service with this consulate when obtaining an annual business visa. This year, total garbage. They had my passport and a FedEx pre-paid return envelope for 10 days. 2 days prior to my departure and I hadn't yet received my passport, I began calling and leaving messages with no response. Yesterday, I was prepared to drive 2 hours and pay for parking to pick up my passport when I finally reached a human on the phone. They stated that my visa was processed and my passport dropped off at FedEx 2 days prior. However, FedEx had NO record of it. This morning, FedEx tracking shows that my package was picked-up last night and will be delivered today. I suspect the consulate outright lied to me and didn't process the visa until yesterday. I missed my flight this morning and it cost me $3600 to change air reservations and another $300 to change hotel in Lima!
Great service in Chicago USA good people humanity services help full any one needs visa to visit go online
Tried calling and left msgs. several times, but never got an answer. As I needed to renew my peruvian passport I had no alternative but to go to their office in downtown Chicago. There they have a attention-by-ticket-number system, but their people didn't pay any attention to that, so you had people walking up to the windows as they saw fit. This operation needs overhauling, dealing with them is very frustrating.
I have been to many foreign consulates but this was the worst of all. I came from Michigan to get tourist visa. The lady at front desk has difficulty expressing herself in English. The worst of all when I wanted to give return envelope for my passport to be mailed to my home state from where I travelled to get the visa, the lady flatly refused and insisted on coming in person to get the passport back. You can imagine I took one off day and travelled from Michigan and then I had to take another off day from work to travel to Chicago to get my passport back. They told me it will take one week but it took two weeks and in the meantime there was no communication. Nobody will be attending phone calls. The lady. told me that they will call me when my passport will be ready but nobody called me. I use to call multiple times a day, left messages but nobody responded my calls or attended call. My advise : please be considerate to those who come from far states to Chicago. Every consulate and embassy accepts return mail envelopes for those applicants from other states. Please attend phone calls.
