It is a small museum but has a very interesting collection. It is worth it the visit.
It's a comparatively small museum somewhat squeezed into the three floors, but staff finds creative ways to play around the architecture.
Nice, Interesting. Very small. Actually only one theme. Today, it was Ai Weiwei, who is not that interesting as a photographer, in my view.
Don't forget to check out their website and don't forget about the special feature: the museum holds lots of photo prints. If you would for example like to see Sally Mann's works stored there, just make an appointment on their website.
Very sad experience. It was my partner's birthday, and they are a photography student. We are only in Chicago for a few days. Surprised them with a trip to this museum, which was listed as being open until 5pm. We walked in the pouring rain to get there, just for the door to be locked. A young woman opened it and said it would reopen on Thursday because it's closed for a new exhibit. We leave Wednesday morning. We explained that we were visiting and that it was my partner's birthday and they still said they couldn't do anything to allow us entry. Although I understand that they need to renovate sometimes, we were extremely disappointed given it said it would be open online.
This place is not known well enough. A few nice galleries that are constantly changing. Often features local themed photographs
Even thought museum is located inside the Columbia building it is not affiliated with the college directly and I was told it only presents Columbia student produced photos in rarest exceptions.
