Such an informative little museum. Great for kids and adults to get a basic understanding of the city. The Vivian Maier exhibit is super special. Turning yourself into a Chicago dog is a huge added bonus. 5/5 will be back again.

Also, I took the Chicago and Crime bus tour on November 4 (special event). It was supposed to be 3.5/4 hours long. It only ended up being 2.5 hours.... For $55. We never left the bus and there were no picture opportunities since most of the sites are gone. Again, the speaker jumped around without actually telling any stories... Bizarre.

I took the Old Town walking tour. It was excellent and I highly recommend it. Not only do you learn a lot about the history of Old Town, but you learn about the surrounding neighborhoods (Gold Coast, Lincoln Park) and a lot of general Chicago history. The length of the tour was perfect (just under 2 hours). You make several stops along the way to look at everything from historical homes, bars, churches, parks and more. The highlight was being able to go inside St. Michael. It's absolutely beautiful. I'd recommend the tour for teens and adults...of any age. The walking isn't extensive and there are lots of (standing) breaks along the way.

I love the history of Chicago, the museum does a great job exhibiting the past. I have been there a few times and will return. Nice gift shop also. Watch for special exhibitions

This review is of a Chicago History Museum tour. Disclaimer: I have not visited the actual museum...yet.

This museum could have more exhibits. Best stuff to see is in the second floor. Room for improvement. I recommend science and industry or field museums over these one any day of the week.

This place has me puzzled: it's big enough to have a lot of comprehensive and themed exhibits. For some reason, the history seemed to be confined to one room on the second floor. There was no chronological flow and each topic had a 20 foot display. That's it.
