After a lot of unsure prodding and questions I already answered, the doc quickly told me that my dog had a fever and would need to be put on two different antibiotics immediately for colitis, an antibiotic shot right then for the fever, a pack of probiotics for the week after antibiotics, and a lab test to determine how serious the colitis is and if more treatment was required. Before I knew it he was walking out of the room and I was looking at a handwritten bill for $209 - $49 for the visit, $35 for the fecal test, and the rest came from all of the meds. Everything was explained very fast and vague, my questions disregarded, and I just wanted to get my dog what I thought she needed. I was a concerned for my dogs health and he recognized that and took advantage. when I left and thought about it more, I couldn't shake the feeling the you get when you know you've been ripped off. After walking .7 miles home and playing in the yard, Aura was still full of energy and running around wagging her tail and I thought there's no way she has a fever.

If you're going to come here (which I wouldn't), don't make the same mistake I did. know exactly what your pet needs and doesn't need, or you'll end up spending triple the amount you should be spending. They’re in the business of ripping people off, not caring for animals.

This is the place to go if you want personal attention for your pet. I love the staff and doctors. They care a lot about your pets. I’ve been going here since 1988 and continue to do even though I moved out of Logan Square in 2000.

Place seems cheap and reasonable but don't let them fool you! Brought my two year old miniature dachshund, Aura, in because I noticed a little blood in her stool on and off for a couple of days. She chewed up one of her toys earlier this week so I initially blamed it on that, but she's also spent some time around a stray dog this past week (who had similar weird diarrhea) so I wanted to get her checked out just in case. Her poo was back to normal today, but i still wanted to be safe. I explained all of this to the vet (don't remember his name but the guy with the thick Russian accent) and reiterated that nothing else was wrong, I basically just wanted a check up and confirmation that she didn't have worms or a virus with the fecal test.

I've taken our dog here a few times and after a number of bad experiences I won't be going back. The assistants are okay (hence 2 stars) but the vet is a crook. I grew up on a farm and know a lot about what is and isn't necessary. They'll try to maximize the level of treatment required to upsell you, then when you object will go through and begin changing the prices and crossing things out. They won't tolerate polite questions and do a terrible job at explaining the diagnosis and potential treatments. They can't even clip claws properly. They cut the quick on 3 claws and won't work through his anxiety with the process. They just pin him down and cut the claws way too short to the point of bleeding all over the place. They tried to have him put on a drip overnight for a minor stomach upset that was fixed immediately with antibiotics. That's clearly all he needed, but they quoted so many unnecessary treatments which totaled nearly $1000. When I said all that I thought was necessary were antibiotics he actually agreed with me and sent me off with those. Dog was fine within 2 days. There are some terrible vets in Chicago and this is one of the worst I've dealt with. They have no set prices and seem fine with haggling. It doesn't seem like the kind of place where this should be acceptable. Chicago pet clinic seems much better.

I’ll admit from the outside this animal hospital looks ok. It definitely doesn’t have the frills that other new hospitals have in the area. BUT what they do have is a fantastic doctor, Dr. Basran, who’s been there for years. Although I’m new to the area, I love the fact that he’s been in Logan Square forever and has tons of experience. In the long run, his experience saves me a lot of bucks and most importantly keeps my dog healthy.

So went there for 1 year and a half. There are two doctors. One is excellent and one is a hack. Prescribed my dog an allergy Med and when it didn't work after an entire bottle re-prescribed the same exact meds except doubled the dosage. Also refuses to actually touch the dog and even seemed scared. Wouldn't listen to a word I was saying. You might save a couple $$ going here but in the end you get what you pay for.

Techs were friendly enough, but the doc was very cold towards my dog, condescending, and wouldn't even look at me. Honestly the whole thing was just really uncomfortable. He even told the tech to make sure he held down my 6lb baby mini wiener dogs head so she didn't bite him. To which the tech responded by saying how sweet she was and in no way was she being aggressive.

I called back to ask what her actual temperature was because I didn’t catch it in the moment, to which he responded with "well it was very slight" and a long pause. I asked again for the specific number met by another long pause and 102.8. Come to find out, that's a mere .3 degrees above normal for dogs. That's not the kind of fever you need an antibiotic shot for. That's not even a real freaking fever. Upon more research, I also discovered that the usual immediate treatment for colitis is a fecal test and then simply cutting your dog off from food for a day and then starting them back on bland food slowly to ease their stomach. Not over $100 worth of antibiotics unless the results of the sample indicate something more serious.
