If the conversation occurs over the phone, they will approach it like: we were working on your stuff and we've just discovered that... And it's bad! You should think about it. You ask: how much? - Well, so and so. Of course, you get suspicious: are you guys ripping me off? - No, we just want you to be safe. Since a) winter is coming b) this is a family car, not just your vehicle c) there's a reason the car is here, damage is started, it hopefully lead us to other important discoveries in the life of your car. And the life of your car is yours. And on and on, reverse psychology applied. At the end of it all: a huge bill (around $ 500 in my case) for two tires and other unidentifiable materials. I mean, who can guarantee you the stuff that's claimed to be changed is new, the handwork is actually handwork, not a little cleaning on the top and so on?
I continue to go to Eliot's for regular oil changes. Mailings provide me with tips and discount coupons. The owner Eliot is a mechanical engineer and takes pride in his & his team's service.
Nothing but great things to say about Eliot's. There's a real midwest charm about Eliot - it's nice to have someone you can trust that isn't trying to pull one over on you. Added Bonus: he and his team do great work at an affordable price. Keep up the great work!
They are also located next to a train stop. So, my husband will take his car in when needed, take the train to work and pick up his car on the way home. No more waiting to find a "good day" to get your car maintained.

I drive a Nissan Altima and Eliot's is the only repair shop I go to. I've been a long time customer because I trust the diagnostics and quality of repair service I receive every time. Eliot's also offers a loaner car if the repairs are going to take a day or two so I'm not stranded or have to change my plans. (Located near Addison Brown Line stop and Trader Joes).

Eliot is a pretty artful guy at cornering you. And probably his trainees as well. You walk in with one flat tire, they usually point out that that is not the only problem with the car. There are several problems. The car is having issues with a) other tires b) the axle c) the rim d) the oil e) brake or engine-related stuff. If the conversation goes person to person, they'll give you the kind approach. You won't get charged for this one thing, you will only get charged if that and that. And the stuff that they need to address it not emergent, but it'd be wise to address the matters. If they aren't an emergency right now, they will be.
Wonderful, honest mechanic who tells you what you need not what will make him the most money. I feel comfortable and confident taking my vehicle to him, knowing he will service it well and in a very timely manner. Easy parking/drop off options and friendly service. I highly recommend Eliot and his staff!
My car broke down in a parking lot one evening. The next morning I made a call to Eliot. He arranged for a tow truck to meet me at my vehicle in 40 minutes. The tow truck arrived on time and gave me a ride with my vehicle to Eliot's. Eliot set me up with a loaner car while they set to work finding out what was wrong with mine. Within an hour I receive a phone call telling me what they discovered and gives me the price for the repair. If a part is needed, he will tell me my options. If they find more than one issue, he will let me know what needs to be done immediately and what can be delayed. I decide what and how much I would like to have done. After I give them the go ahead, I receive a phone call when my car is ready to be picked up. Before the end of the work day, I return the loaner car and pick up my vehicle. You can't find convenience like this in just any shop!
