The worst experience of my life. I hired Burrows based on a recommendation from a friend and lets just put it this way. My friend won't be using them anymore. I called to get a price on my move. We had already moved out of our home. All of our contents were packed and in a 2 car garage less than 2 miles from our new home. They told me that it would be $111 an hour and that if it took more than 3-4 hours for the whole move, than they were doing something wrong. Well they were doing something wrong, because it took just over 9 HOURS!! They show up the morning of the move with a fairly small truck and only 2 guys. I asked how they planned on getting this all in that truck, they told me that I was lucky they came at all because they had no drivers and that he wasn't even supposed to drive the truck. Great way to start the day. I baby sat the first load, because there was no way this was going to get done in one truck. The first load seemed to go fairly well. I stayed at the new home while they went back for the second load. This is where it all went down hill. They must of stuffed the truck because they didn't want to make a third trip. They destroyed a bedroom set, broke a plasma TV, broke glass on one of a kind autographed memorabilia that tore right through it, and damaged our BBG Grill. To make it worse, they left stuff at the garage and didn't bring everything. I went over all the damage with the movers and made them put it in writing. Didn't help me. On top of everything they tried to hit me with a 3% credit card fee. I had to fight that. I tried calling the office several times during the week about the damage to our belongings and all I did was get a run around. I am a small Business owner here in the North Shore and I feel that I need to tell as many as I can about this company. They caused thousands in damage, charged a 3 times more than quoted, and have no remorse. Please be careful and stay away.
It took them 7hrs to move a 1-bedroom and a studio. They wrapped the furniture well and were professional but they were too slow. There were 3 guys but most of the time only one person was working. To top it off their truck broke down in front of the building and the crew decided to abandon the truck after 2 hrs. The truck blocked the driveway to the building so nobody could leave or enter. I called dispatch and was told numerous times that a tow truck was on its way. Over 4 hrs later the tow truck finally came. This move has been an absolute nightmare and now we're off to a horrible start with our neighbors.
THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL NIGHTMARE!!!!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!! We did a move with them, paid thousands of dollars to have them store our things, much of which never made it back to our house. They damaged our house, broke items, and took absolutely no responsibility. Their men ate food from my house without asking. Totally unprofessional. They took absolutely no measures to prevent damage to our home, damaging numerous walls and stairways inside our home. When I asked the men how to make a claim for the damage, their response was "they'll never reimburse you for that". They broke a very expensive floor mirror, documented it and now they are saying "we don't have a picture of it though". None of the hardware to any of our lamps made it to our house, and we are missing chairs, mirrors and more. When you try to file a claim, they patronize you and make you feel as if it is your responsibility. I reported them to Chicago's Better Business Bureau.
Just had a family piano moved in, and we are very happy! Movers are professional and efficient. When I had a question about the cost on the ticket, which was slightly different than what I had written down, the team leader called the office and the price was adjusted to what I had. I appreciate that I didn't have to argue. This is our third move with Burrows.
Would not recommend one bit. They moved my stuff but broke two things without fixing anything. They broke my toaster oven and even wrote down they broke my toaster oven. Then they broke my brand new 60 inch tv. I put the tv on after they moved me and it was cracked on the top. When I asked hem to help me cover the cost they offered 75 dollars then told the credit card company they offered 125. They will lie to not pay you for damages. This was a recommendation from my sister because it is her friends company but wow I would never use them. Very unprofessional and don’t care about your belongings one bit. Never use this company and if you do I suggest you watch them like hawks to make sure they don’t break anything. Terrible company! If they would at least offer to pay for my tv I would of given them a 5 because of how fast they moved my place but b cause of this incident it’s a 1 and I wish I could give them a 0. Awful company
