View is amazing, I'll give them that. Otherwise, the service was spotty at best, we sat at hobbling high top chairs and tables, it took an unnecessarily long time to get a server and our drinks, and the drinks were actually BAD--mine was supposed to be an aromatic, but was far too sweet, and my wife had a Moscow Mule, which is near impossible to mess up, but it was made with 7-up instead of ginger beer, and served in a rocks glass. I would expect a lot more from this "new trendy spot", especially given the location and price.
I was very excited on my way to the London House Rooftop. Expectations of great cocktails, incredible views, upstanding and well-to-do clientele, and exceptional service all provided the catalysts to my excitement. Let's just say that the view of the beautiful Chicago skyline was the only enjoyment endured on my shortened visit.
If you're in Chicago and are looking for a rooftop bar to enjoy the night with friends and family, I advise any other rooftop than at the London House.
The bartenders seemed more interested in venting about last night's raucous customers than making my $16 premixed Old Fashioned. My drink was so disappointing that I neglected to finish half of it. The rooftop bar is apparently open to the general public and all forms of drifting riff-raff made their appearance on the deck to take pictures and occupy the limited seating. I can't comment on the service of the wait staff because it was non-existent.
We did 2 rooftop bars here in Chicago during our visit and this one was the best. Amazing views and the balcony is huge. A few other rooftops that are more popular had small balcony and everyone was crowded trying to take a picture but in my opinion this on was the best not as crowded we went on a sunday. Price are outrageous so pleas eat prior but drinks are worth it. We did order deviled eggs they were pretty but tasted weird and truffle fries are good. Also there is like a dome thing there that you can take photos in it is amazing! Great place to end a day full of shopping on the magnificent mile. Start at Macy's and end here!
The four-star rating represents the average between five stars for the atmosphere of the place and three stars for the cocktail program. The place is beautiful and the cocktails are average at best at ultra premium prices. If you should go depends on which is most important to you.
The view was amazing and the service was fantastic. The fried chicken sandwich was dissapointing. Under seasoned and hard to eat. Fries were delicious but really greasy. I expect better from a fine dining establishment considering the wait time and prices.
