Abysmal, I called ahead of time to make sure they could perform the service I needed (drilling a hole). I was VERY specific about what I needed and they assured me it could be done. Low and behold upon my arrival I ask the cashier about the request I made over the phone and all I get is a dumbfounded look. The cashier (with no eye contact and not one shred of customer service skills) calls up the manager with an attitude like I was putting him out and that my request was just absurd. The manager comes up and when I tell her about my request she also looks at me like I'm an idiot. Long story short, they wasted my time and my money and ACE hardware won't see another dime of my money.
I'm glad to see Ace Hardware is still in business and so close to me. They have a lot of great gear to get and very affordable too. In classic Ace Hardware style it's small, overpacked and dimly lit, but don't let that deter you. Get your stuff, be patient, and get out.
The staff have always been super helpful and friendly at this store. Much appreciated in the middle of city livin!
I got some keys remade here. No one greeted me when I entered and when I asked the first employee I saw where I could get keys made I was yelled at to go wait at the front. A different employee came up and was very courteous, asked me exactly what I wanted, and was very quick. Then I went back to the first employee to cash out and they were in a slightly better mood.
Aside from having an awesome product selection, the staff at this Ace Hardware went above and beyond to help out. JC patiently helped me pick out paint colors and copied my keys in two minutes. He even carried my bags out to a cab because I'm pregnant (keep in mind this Ace is inside a big building). Totally unnecessary, but so appreciated! I would go out of my way to shop here again.
Very helpful staff. They have been in the 680 Building for many years and are a fixture in the Streeterville neighborhood. Very attentive to the customer and willing to spend the time to explain how to do things.
