I visited this oasis in the city during the Chicago Architecture Foundation's Open House Chicago 2013. Although the main worship space is at ground level, the SkyChapel atop the building is not to be missed. You've got to work to get there, taking two elevators and a number of staircases to enjoy the nation's highest chapel! What many visitors don't know is the wonderful history of this congregation as the earliest church in Chicago with origins back to a congregation at Wolf Point! Check out the church's website for current information about public services and tours!
The Chicago Temple is an amazing building. The church is welcoming and warm and open to the public for worship services. There are tours most days that include the Chapel int he Sky. The best time to see it is the one weekend a year in October during the Chicago Architectural Foundation's Open House Chicago.
Our church is a warm and friendly place as expected and has mission programs; advocacy for the homeless, International missions, and advocacy for justice locally that are exciting and award winning efforts. I’m proud to call this my church home and continue to learn how to love my neighbor.
The building is beautiful, the staff is very kind and welcoming, it's in a great location close to many attractions during the holiday season. I did not love that they only sang hymns during worship, but hymns are not my favorite, so i may be biased.
Sacred and welcoming to all in a richly historic church in the center of the city.
