I was there like 30 minutes ago, some girl with long curly black hair told me "you can carry your bags, but don't steal anything" when I asked if I should leave my bag. Other people came in after me guys and girls( white) with bags but she didn't tell them anything. I can't enjoy browsing for statues because some chick thought that me (the only dark skinned person there at the time) was going to steal.
NO REFUNDS!
Super disappointed. I am from out of town, spending 2 days in Chicago, and was really looking forward to visiting Graham Crackers with my family. Less than 5 minutes in the shop, most of it in the back issues, an elderly gentleman huffng and puffing moving boxes announces he is closing off the section of the store I'm in. Really? I ask him what I'm looking for and going of his "memory" he tells me he doesn't have what I'm looking for. I figured his answer was to get me out of the section he wanted to close off. In the middle of the day. (1pm) After this one and only experience with Graham Crackers I have no desire to visit Graham Crackers in person or online.
I bought something from here on a Friday to give as a gift. The person didn't want it. Instead of giving me my money back they gave me a gift card. I know I may sound ignorant but how is this even legal? At least inform customers before they purchase that your purchases are final. You're forcing someone to do business with you when there was nothing else in there for me to buy this person. If you had friendlier staff I probably wouldn't mind. The girl who refunded me was kind but still unclear as to the refund policy until I took my card out. I've been in there before and every time I go I get a weird look from staff. I never feel comfortable in there. I'll never shop here again. I'll just by my comics from a bookstore, Amazon , or a different local comic book shop. What a joke.
Very cool place with chill staff. Great selection of comics at decent prices.
I love this place. The staff are friendly and all know their comics and they'll order any back issues or trade paperbacks they might not have in stock (which is pretty rare) and call you when they arrive. They clearly get enough female customers (and have a few on staff!) so there isn't a weird vibe when I'm there. The location is hard to beat too!
Update: Thanks John! John was very responsive to my original review. He showed unprecedented follow up and customer service. Consider me a Graham Crackers customer for life.
