Immediately I was drawn to the Howard Finster work.
Came out way later and was surprised the blue and red open sign was still lit up.
I couldn’t pass up not getting a piece the energy was just too good.
Spotted this place on the way to jewel to deposit cash at tcf.
My wife and I were shopping for art for our new place. We checked out a few places including David's.
I came back a few weeks later to pick up my wife's favorite (Hipster Ariel)
If your looking to find real art in this city this is a great place to start
After the tour of the gallery and the background story of the artists I felt right at home.
I found more than just a product here, but a real passion and the stories to back it up.
David really took the time to connect with us and ask what types of things we were looking for - and as first time art buyers we needed a bit of help.
as a gift. David remembered me and we had a good time as we wrapped it up and he showed me what was new.
I visited David's gallery with just a few ideas for what I was looking for, and not much experience in collecting art. In a short period of time, I have learned so much and get a great deal of joy and energy out from growing my art collection. David's expertise and perceptive skill set makes for an uncanny ability to match art to the collector. I'd highly recommend visiting this gallery. Even if you come equipped with just a love for art, you'll be surprised at what you walk away with!
Got caught up in jewel checking all the salt for ionization.
As far as taste, everything was very cool. The art is a bit modern, and a bit pop. But I'm no expert. What I do know is that I would recommend David to anyone looking for several pieces of unique art for their home.
David Leonardis Gallery has been a part of my family's art appreciation regime for decades. David has hundreds of original, high-quality pieces on sale 365 days a year. He is a highly knowledgable dealer, not just on the artists he carries but on the overall realms of outsider, pop, folk, and other genres. You can find a piece for any occasion at the David Leonardis Gallery!
I parked in the loading zone, as ANY non commercial vehicle can in the City Of Chicago (for less than 15 minutes. You should read the city loading\standing zone ordinances since you don't know how it works). The owner came out seeing me and my friend holding a box of tools and a car battery. I listened to his request "move your car anywhere but in front of my store. I pay for this loading zone". I told him I would in a minute as we needed to change a car battery and continued to go across the street 20 feet to help my friend. He yelled out "FINE, go get f**cked you f**cking prick". We got the battery changed withing 7-10 minutes. I got back into my started car and sat for a minute to get my GPS going. While doing that, this idiot decided he was going to come out again and start knocking on my window. I ignored it for about 30 seconds and he wouldn't stop. I rolled it down, listened to his nonsense - yelling and name calling, taking pictures of me and my license plate, threatening me to the point he told me to get out of the car and he'd show me what he'd do to me. I contacted the Chicago Police to make an official report since he threatened me and took pictures of my plates, etc.
Plus the vip parking for buyers in front, i mean come’on how can you beat that
He spent quite a bit of time showing us a lot of art not on the walls, reaching deep into his collection.
